You can Protect and Repair a Windows 2000, XP, or Vista Computer using FREE Tools!

I offer a comprehensive selection of FREE Windows Security and repair tools for you over at "Software Santa"

Here's a Whole Section dedicated to it:
http://softwaresanta.com/smf/index.php/board,21.0.html

I recommend you read this article first:   How to secure your PC.

When someone brings a computer in for service I perform ALL Microsoft Software updates http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/
and then install (and update, and run) these programs in this order:

Anti-Vir (Avira):
http://softwaresanta.com/smf/index.php/topic,39.0.html

SUPERAntiSpyware Free Version:
http://softwaresanta.com/smf/index.php?topic=1563.0

Install Firefox and make it the default browser.
http://softwaresanta.com/smf/index.php?topic=153.html

Finally: Go to "Shield's Up"
http://softwaresanta.com/smf/index.php/topic,957.0.html
and Be Scanned. Shield's Up is an online Security Scan to check for Internet Vulnerabilities!

This will get you all fixed up!

I have told several people about these programs. The One Caveat I should mention is that you should check each of those programs, in turn, for updates as soon as you install and run it.

I have used Avira Anti-Vir for years and YEARS. It is free for personal use.  bux

The SuperAntiSpyware is a top recommended program too!

Firefox has been my browser for Years.

These repair and defense programs are CERTAINLY Worth the time it takes to download, install, and run them! Take the time to follow the links in the post above and repair your computer yourself BEFORE it needs a trip to the Shop!

I've been in Computing 32 Years and I do know a little something about Computer Repairs!  Grin
