Explore! is a desert exploration game in the spirit of the classic adventure games (Universal binary, runs on Mac OS X 10.4 and later) As you can tell, it is a desert game. Explore! is a desert exploration game in the spirit of the classic adventure games of the olden days. It is a game by Durandal Brytting, of minor fame as connoisseur of old Mac games. Like most of my games (well, I’m Durandal, duh) it strives to return to the good old days when games lasted. Also, I’m pretty sure that it’s an educational game for your kids. If nothing else they might learn some long words and what a desert rose is. Like most anything I create, Explore! is completely free. Don’t pay, just play! Actually, if you think the game is immensely fun, and if you think you’re stinking rich, you could improve your karma and donate some modest amount of money to me. The reason that my stuff is free is not that I’m rich and don’t need money. I’m just behaving in accordance with the categorical imperative. It’s a much nicer system to pay what you’re able and willing to pay, don’t you think? Explore! 1.0 A dramatic game by Durandal Brytting, who borrowed the "Unicode rebus" idea from ##n and stole one of the rebuses from chmod007. But I'm giving credit now though! Okay, so here's the insignificant plot: You are an old desert trekker and you have reached the end of your life. Following the common tradition among desert trekkers, you must now go into the magical endless desert which does not have a city at the other end. When you are there, there will be no return. The objective of this game is to explore the desert, survive for as long as possible, and find interesting things. When you find souvenirs and interesting things in the desert, things will appear on the game's title screen. They will remain there until the end of time or until you trash your preferences because you've unlocked everything and want to start over. (Trust me, though - you won't unlock everything any time soon. HOW TO PLAY Well, you've got a screen that shows what you're looking at, it's for decorative purposes only, this is not a point and click game, you can't click anything on this screen, nothing will happen. But you can click on the two buttons that say "Pace" and "Run!", and you can enter commands into the command field. Pacing will move through the desert slowly. This is good because it's very kind to your friendly camel, but it's bad because it'll take longer to get anywhere. Running will move through the desert quickly. This is good because you cover more distance at once, which also means that you're more likely to run into a special encounter. However, it is bad because it's not easy on your poor camel, which could trip and get hurt. Drinking is a very good idea because if you don't drink, you die from thirst. Healing your camel is also a very good idea because if your camel dies, you are screwed. Not that you have cannibals after you or anything, but moving through the desert on foot is not a winner. Here are some basic commands you can enter into the command field. There are lots more, but they're not documented. Just experiment and see what happens. The most common commands have short versions, too. Like P for Pace, R for Run, "inv" for inventory... Pace - Same as the "Pace" button Run - Same as the "Run!" button Drink - Drink water, if you have any Heal - Heal your camel, if you have first aid kits Search - Look for hidden things Inventory - See what you are carrying Now go play! And finally: The Developer's personal Explore! distance record (so far) because he just knows everyone wants to know: [Explore!: 1515 distance travelled, 10 shoppes visited, solved the Raven's riddle, humoured the statue, solved the programmer's rebus - 8 major title screen accessories unlocked] Durandal Brytting http://www.sippan.se/ http://iskub.sippan.se/explore/

Tess the Vampire is a blood-sucking adventure RPG with tongue-in-cheek humor: for Mac OS X 10.5 or Later Not for Children!!!!! Tess the Vampire is a blood-sucking adventure RPG with tongue-in-cheek humor ....
Help Tess, the undead green-eyed vampire girl, reunite with her dead girlfriend, and drink gallons of blood out of the gory wounds of dismembered mortals in the process! There are also 7 different outfits you can wear! (Including the BUNNY SUIT!) Explore 300 different rooms, ranging from locations such as the GRAVEYARD and the FOREST, to the NUCLEAR CHEESE FACTORY and the FOUNTAIN OF BLOOD OF VIRGINS! Download it now for free! Eat placentas and maggots, make people’s eyeballs pop out and chase them around in order to lick up the blood that sprays out of their skulls!
THE PLOT
This game has an incredibly intricate plot, which would take hours and hours to detail in this document. Therefore, here's the short version. Just be aware of how much you're missing. If you want no story at all, just skip ahead to the actual manual section below.
Tess and her girlfriend Ebba had a suicide pact. They burned a few American flags and then chopped each other's heads off, the latter in order to be together forever. (The former was 50% shock value and 50% political statement.) Unfortunately they were high on weird mushrooms which caused Tess to accidentally slip and cut off Ebba's hand instead of her head. Obviously, with her hand cut off, Ebba was unable to kill Tess. Instead, she just bled to death on the ground while Tess hallucinated about pink squirrels. And then, in Tess' mental absence, Ebba's severed hand was carried away by a fox.
When Tess regained her senses, she was ridden by guilt over Ebba's death, and wanted desperately to die in order to reunite with her in the Afterlife. Unfortunately, Tess was so afraid of suicide that she couldn't do it herself. (Which was one of the reasons their suicide pact demanded that they chopped each other's heads off. Obviously.)
So she did what anyone would have done: sought out a serial killer girl and asked her to kill her instead. The serial killer murdered Tess and drank her blood. Unfortunately, Tess awoke the next day, to find herself inside a coffin, six feet under. The serial killer had obviously been a vampire, and now Tess was one too.
In the coffin, she was haunted by visions of her beloved! Ebba's voice from beyond the grave told Tess that she was all pissed off at the botched suicide pact, and that the only way she would ever let Tess see her again, would be if Tess fixed all her friggin' problems! Tess wrote it all down in her calendar, in order to remember it. Unfortunately, she misplaced the calendar and forgot where it was, right before an invisible force ripped the earth open, tearing her out of her tomb and back into the land of the living.
All she remembered was that she had to prove herself to Ebba by confronting her fear of suicide by taking her own life upon Ebba's very tomb! But where was the tomb again? And what was that other important stuff she had to do? And what was she going to do about the bloom deep inside her of the flower that is the desire to maim, slaughter and feast on the blood of the living HHAHAHAHHAHA
ACTUAL MANUAL
Okay, so you're a vampire. This means you suck. Blood, that is. At the bottom of the screen there is a Blood Satiety meter. Don't let it run out, or you will die. Press space to suck blood when you are standing on top of blood pools or on top of a fresh corpse. You need very fresh blood! Old blood is unhealthy for you. So beware of those old bodies. There are also different kinds of blood - they may behave slightly differently.
Your blood satiety drops faster during the day - avoid the sun!
Fight people by walking into them. To walk, use IJKL or WASD or numpad or even the arrow keys. We're trying to appease everyone here. (Personally, I use both arrows and WASD at the same time.) People will fight back. The screen gets increasingly red as your health drops. Run away. Vampires regenerate (not in sunlight though!), so just run to a safe spot when you're near death. No stupid medkits necessary.
Cause, what's the deal with medkits!? They're in EVERY game, and they're EVERYwhere. Why the f¡¿+ck are there human medkits lying around on alien spaceships, in garbage bins, on top of houses... it's insane!! I tried to aim for a more realistic feeling in my vampire game.
You can pick objects with the comma key. There are all sorts of fun stuff. Like placentas. When you have picked up a placenta, you can eat it with the E key. This will fill up your blood satiety immediately! Save 'em for when you really need to. Some objects will be used immediately when you pick them up. Pieces of cheese, for instance. Its effect is fairly obvious so I shouldn't need to clarify why you want to eat cheese. Also, you can find new clothes for Tess lying around. (Including the BUNNY SUIT and the LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR DRESS!)
And, you can examine stuff with the return key. Tombstones and signs, for example. The return key is also used to remove the status messages that appear on the screen in big yellow letters.
Now let's talk about the mortals running around, and how you can kill them. Apart from just bashing them, there are several other things you can do. If you have razors, put them on the ground with the Z key. Certain people will kill themselves rather than fight you, if they find the razors. You can also freak people out by saying scary vampire stuff with the T key. The brave will not be scared, but the weak will be more scared every time you say something. Eventually, their blood pressure will be so high that their eyeballs pop and they start spraying blood through the skull and run about, screaming in terror. They are now defenseless, easy targets.
And then of course, once you find the crossbow, you can shoot people by holding shift and pressing a direction key. This only works if they are standing near a wall. The arrow will pin them to the wall and prevent them from moving, so you can calmly approach them and suck their blood. (Note that certain monsters may be able to get loose, because they are too cool to be pinned to walls.)
When you have died (again!) you can press space or return to automagically copy your statistics to the clipboard, for quick and easy pasting into your favorite chat room. You know, to brag.
You can not save your game. The reason is that Tess the Vampire is a bit of an exploration game, and if you could save the game it would be all too easy. Besides, it usually does not take a very long time to play it, so you should not really need to save.
WHAT'S THE FRIGGIN' GOAL???
Well, you gotta commit suicide, but it can't be just any kind of suicide, nooo. You don't remember which kind it has to be though, so you'll have to find some way of figuring it out.
Other than that, you can make your own goals in Tess the Vampire. You can aim to explore every single one of the 300 different rooms, or you can aim to kill as many mortals as possible... Or you can break your old speed record. (Speed of course being measured in steps, not hours and minutes.) If you like puzzles, I actually even put in like, one or two of them, for you to solve. They're not very difficult... But I'll learn them puzzle making skillz some day. Really.
A HELPFUL TIP!
It is a very good idea to explore the area around the graveyard before you enter the village and other areas. The graveyard area is a bit of a tutorial, it contains a few things that are good to learn about early on... Yeah. And also, you need to level up to prepare for the cave.
QUICK RECAP
Space - Suck that blood! (Use also to just stand still.) IJKL/WASD/numpad/arrows - Move around and attack! Shift + IJKL/WASD/numpad/arrows - Shoot with crossbow! T - Say something scary! Return - Read signs and stuff, remove status messages from the screen! , - Pick stuff up! E - Eat a placenta! Z - Drop a razorblade!
Now play the game and try to have fun, and if you do, e-mail me and tell me because I like mail, and if the game sucks, e-mail me and tell me why and then perhaps my next game won't suck. And if the game didn't suck and you're also rich, please donate a dollar or two to me so I can keep making fun freeware. http://iskub.sippan.se/tess/Welcome.html

PAW2U Genealogy software (formerly PAWriter II) is basically PAF (the LDS Personal Ancestral File program) for Mac OS X I have written a freeware genealogy program, Personal Ancestry Writer II (PAWriter II), for MacOS X. It combines most of the features of the LDS Personal Ancestral File program (PAF) for the Macintosh (for which all development stopped a few years ago after release 2.3.1), with additional features that generate web pages (in HTML), word processing files (in RTF for, e.g., AppleWorks) and desktop publishing files (in MML for FrameMaker). The generated report files include genealogical dictionaries, registers, ahnentafels and lineages—such as appear on this site—as well as some interesting text files and pedigree charts.
PAWriter also provides flexible selection of subsets of people in a file by "tagging" them (marking them as members of the subset) using a host of selection criteria. Selections include inclusion (+), exclusion (-) and intersection (*) of the set of people meeting the criteria with those already tagged.
Consider PAWriter to be a possible next step in the development of Macintosh PAF had its develpment not been discontinued after release 2.3.1, i.e., "what might have been." PAWriter is not meant to have the bells and whistles that are in the current crop of genealogical programs. The emphasis is on maintaining a genealogical database from which the user can write books and/or post web pages about a family.
Importantly, the use of PAWriter differs from other programs in that each statement given in a person's vital statistics should be based on the evidence given or referenced in the notes for that person and/or for his or her relatives, and should represent the researcher's best current conclusions as to the true facts. For this purpose, the notes should contain all of the evidence, substantiation, documentation, background information, clarification, interpretation and/or other relevant commentary. It is in these notes that source citations are referenced through footnotes inserted at the appropriate points in the notes' text, as is normally done in books. (The footnotes will be included at the end of the printed notes in the generated reports.)
The program is written in REALbasic. Note that REALbasic is not really basic. It's a sophisticated and efficient object-oriented integrated development environment.
I am accepting comments, suggestions and reports of problems from other users. Personally, I am working with a very large file containing 44,700 people in 15,700 families and 1,180,000 words in notes.
Help is available for any item in most windows by pressing the Shift key and moving the cursor over the item, or moving the cursor to the top left corner to see general help for the window. This is described by clicking the About Help button in the main window or selecting About PAWriter Help from the Help menu when in most windows. (You can also press the Help key if your keyboard has one, or control-e if not.)
An extensive reference guide can be opened when you are in the main window by clicking on the Reference button to open the guide in your browser, or by choosing the PAWriter Reference Guide item under the Help menu. Then you will be able to access the guide at any time by just switching to your browser.
PAWriter requires a G3/G4/G5/Intel processor, MacOS 10.3 (Panther) or higher and at least a 1024 x 768 color monitor.
A PAWriter data file may contain more than two billion people and each person's notes may contain more than two billion characters, although this would require terrabytes of RAM and disk space and speed to match! The more pertinent limitations are that a person may have no more than ten spouses/partners, each with no more than thirty children. http://www.lanopalera.net/Genealogy/AboutPAWriter.html

Frogatto is an open-source “platformer” or “jump-and-run” videogame Software Santa LOVES his Copy! A Software Santa Pick! Frogatto is freely available for Mac, Windows, and Linux. It is also available for iPhone & iPod Touch on the App Store.
Download
Frogatto is an open-source “platformer” or “jump-and-run” videogame. Like in many classic games, the world is viewed as a cross-section seen from the side, and your character (in this case, a small green fellow named Frogatto) walks and jumps between solid platforms, whilst avoiding monsters. We’re not trying to clone any specific game, but we inevitably have a lot in common with other games just by being in the genre. We are trying to innovate a bit.
Frogatto is a finished, fully-playable game. We’re planning to add a bunch of other stuff to it, but we have a complete start-to-finish single-player story you can play right now – just check out our Download page.
What does it run on?
Frogatto was written for computers (windows, mac, and linux), and the iPhone. It runs well on any iPhone, even the oldest ones.
As for computers, it runs on Mac, Linux, or Windows, and should work on any computer made in the last 8 years or so. Specifically, you need OpenGL support, and at least Windows XP or Mac OS 10.4. Hardware needs to be at least: 40mb of ram, a 500mhz CPU, and a graphics card at least as good as the first ATI radeons.
People have suggested ports to various platforms (like PSP, DS, etc). We ourselves are completely incapable of doing this – we know nothing about programming for these, we don’t own these devices ourselves, and we can’t afford to pay someone else to do it. If you can do a port, we’d be happy to do business with you (including potential freeware releases, such as for the Pandora/GP2x). But asking our current team to do it is useless.
How much does it cost?
On computers? Nothing. Enjoy it, and please spread the word!
On the iPhone? Between $1 – $5, depending if it’s on sale.
Can I help out?
Sure. We’re open to level designs, and new puzzles. However, keep in mind that if you do help out, we’re not going to pay you, and anything you give us is ours to sell. We’re not jerks, here, we’re just covering our butt by not making any promises. (Realistically, we’d probably put you in the credits, and if you were really, insanely good, we’d consider hiring you.)
What’s “Open Source”?
Open source means you can see (and reuse) the code we built the game from. This makes frogatto infinitely moddable (and fixable, and maintainable, unlike closed-source ‘moddable’ games which leave you permanently stuck with engine bugs or future incompatibilities). Even more importantly, this means you could take frogatto’s code and build your own 2d game out of it. We can help with advice on that – we’d love to see that happen.
We strongly welcome mods, and are interested in including any really good mods or new levels, in the core game.
We’re also interested in translations – at least, once we have code support for it. We’re looking into writing code to support that now, although we want to add it carefully.
Which parts are Open Source?
Our code is open-source, our content isn’t. We love the open-source movement, but because we’re trying to make money off of the project, we need legal protection against someone else selling it (or freely giving it away) when doing so would really hurt us. If we open-sourced everything, we’d have no protection at all. Overall, though, we’re huge fans of open-source, so if you want to reuse something we made that you’re not sure is open, please ask! We’ll probably say yes.
In fact, we’ve already done that with a few old tilesets and such: these can be found at OpenGameArt.
The license on the code is the GPL, but we’re doing a Qt-style dual-licensing model, so we insist that if you contribute something, you transfer the copyright to us. We of course immediately re-release it in our source tree as GPL, as you would want.
I’m a programmer. What are your dependencies?
You’ll need OpenGL, GLEW, SDL (plus SDL_ttf, SDL_mixer, and SDL_image), and Boost (specifically regex and system). LibPNG is needed for making a ‘precompiled’ set of images to use on computers (it saves video-ram and makes the game run faster).

i.Ftp is a little graphical FTP/SFTP client that is cross platform and portable. Stable Binaries for BeOS, Windows, and Intel Mac OS X i.Ftp is a little graphical FTP/SFTP client, which does what I need in an FTP client without the size and fuss. I originally wrote i.Ftp to be the first freeware graphical client for BeOS, but someone beat me to it by a few days and well nobody notices who comes 2nd. Source is available so if you want to fix that glaring bug and just tinker with it by all means, hack away. i.Ftp is hosted on SourceForge and the checkout goes something like this: svn co https://lgi.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/lgi/trunk Lgi/trunk svn co https://i-ftp.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/i-ftp/trunk i.Ftp/trunk i.Ftp is designed to work from portable media like USB keys as well. It doesn't store anything in the registry and will find it's resource files and options via relative paths. A full install is about 900kb so it doesn't eat up much space on your portable storage. If you don't need SFTP support then you can delete libssh.dll and libeay32.dll to make it even smaller!
