Dear ArtsConnectEd user,

Thank you for your support for ArtsConnectEd (ACE) over the past 18 years.

We are writing to let you know that ArtsConnectEd will be retired at the end of June 2016.

We wish to extend a special thank you to the Minnesota Department of Education and the Institute of Museum and Library Services for their major support of ACE, along with Best Buy Foundation, MCI, Education Minnesota Foundation, ADC Foundation, and Qwest Foundation for their generous contributions over the years. We also express our deepest gratitude to our teacher power-users who helped us design and test the web site and train teachers across the state.

ACE’s technology has become outdated, and no longer provides a level of service or performance on par with what users previously experienced. As a result, Minneapolis Institute of Art and Walker Art Center collectively support moving forward with other, more-sustainable and mobile-friendly tools.

Much of the content currently available on ArtsConnectEd will be available on the websites of the Minneapolis Institute of Art and Walker Art Center, including downloadable images and articles related to select works.

Here are some of the features of Mia’s newly designed collection pages:

  • Enhanced search capabilities, with suggestions and filters
  • High-resolution zoomable images
  • New object details, featuring Mia Stories, audio clips, and ArtStories
  • Browse expanded content in Museum Highlights, New to Mia, and Explore
  • Search by objects  currently on view
  • Browse objects gallery-by-gallery
Walker Art Center's substantial collections page includes:

  • High-resolution zoomable images from the permanent collection of visual arts
  • Browse  by artist, title, create date, acquisition date, medium, work currently on view Performing arts commissions
  • The Rosemary Furtak Collection of artists’ books
  • The Merce Cunningham Dance Company Collection
  • The Living Collections Catalogue, an ongoing serial publication that provides access to unique documents, original interpretation, and other Information
  • The Ruben/Bentson Film & Video Study Collection
  • “The Walker Channel” provides live and archived video of the Walker’s public programming.
  • “Art on Call” features artists and curators discussing work in the Walker’s collection and special exhibitions

Both of our museums look forward to continued collaboration. Thank you again for supporting ArtsConnectEd.
