Who We Are
An independent organization of leading scientists and journalists researching and reporting the facts about our changing climate and its impact on the public.
 
What We Do
Climate Central surveys and conducts scientific research on climate change and informs the public of key findings. Our scientists publish and our journalists report on climate science, energy, sea level rise, wildfires, drought, and related topics. Climate Central is not an advocacy organization. We do not lobby, and we do not support any specific legislation, policy or bill. Climate Central is a qualified 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization.

How We Do It
      
Research         
Climate Central scientists publish peer-reviewed research on climate science; energy; impacts such as sea level rise; climate attribution and more. Our work is not confined to scientific journals. We investigate and synthesize weather and climate data and science to equip local communities and media with the tools they need to visualize the threat of climate change and the need for practical solutions.    

Media & Communication
Climate Central's editorial staff operates a news service that is journalistically independent of the organization's research and communications programs. Through its website, its veteran journalists report daily on the facts about our changing climate and its impacts on the public through news and feature stories, blogs, podcasts, and interactive graphics. Climate Central’s coverage has been featured nationally across digital, print and broadcast platforms.    

Social Science Research
Climate change is difficult to communicate, so we don’t just send our information out and hope it is seen. We use proven social science methods to determine what messages resonate with our viewers, and the best messengers to engage the public. We objectively evaluate our work using clear measures of comprehension, acceptance and retention. We share this information with partner organizations to ensure the most effective public outreach.
