GenealogyJ is a viewer and editor for genealogic data, suitable for hobbyist, family historian and genealogy researcher. GenJ supports the Gedcom standard, is written in Java and offers family tree, table, timeline views and more. GenJ is free software so it can be redistributed and/or be modified under the terms of the GNU General Public Licence as published by the Free Software Foundation.

Prerequisites

The prerequisite for running GenJ on your operating system is a Java Virtual Machine version 1.5 or higher available for

    *  Windows, Linux, Solaris
    *  Mac OS X

Getting started

Check out the screenshots or run the Applet to get a first impression of GenJ. New users can first learn more about GenJ in the manual or simply download a pre-built version of GenealogyJ and explore the views it offers to the user.

Developers can download the program source or access our CVS repository to build GenJ for themselves or join the development effort. If you have questions or comments please join us in our public forum.
