Smartripper can be used to create a copy of a DVD on a hard drive.

Quote
Smartripper is a freeware software application that can be used to create a copy of a DVD on a hard drive. The program supports three copy modes: Movie (copy the movie only), Files (copy selected files only) and Backup (copy whole disk).

Smartripper is able to bypass a few DVD copy protections. SmartRipper development has ceased, but the source code of last version (2.41) was released by the developers.

Distribution of programs such as Smartripper is illegal in some countries, like the United States, due to laws prohibiting the distribution of software that circumvents digital copy protections.
