Overview

Curb is designed to facilitate emptying the trash from removable media such as USB Keys.

When files are deleted on removable media, it is stored in a special trash folder on the media.  These files take up room, robbing your drive of free space.  Ordinarily to remove these files the user must empty their own trash, which includes files you’ve deleted on the local system.  This is not always desirable.

With Curb, emptying trash from a USB key becomes as easy as drag and drop.  Drop any number of mounted USB keys onto Curb and each one will have the trash removed, all without losing your local trash.

Requirements

Designed for OS X 10.5+, Curb is a Universal Binary, so it runs on both Intel and PowerPC.

Features

Curb offers three ways to empty your trash:

   1.

      •Delete the trash
   2.

•Move the trash to your local trash
   3.

•Delete the trash using Secure Remove
   4.

      •Single Pass
   5.

      •7-Pass (US DoD Compliant)
   6.

      •35-Pass (Gutmann algorithm)
   7.

      •Zero out blocks after overwriting

Curb can even eject the key when the trash has been emptied and features automatic updates through Sparkle.

How To

Simply drag a mounted removable media icon like a USB key to Curb and drop it off; Curb will handle the rest.  A progress dialog is presented while the trash is being emptied.  This process can be cancelled at any time.

For convenient use keep Curb in the dock or in the Finder toolbar.  Enjoy a streamlined workflow when launching Curb by dragging media to it.  Curb will launch, empty the trash and auto-exit, saving you time.
