Snarl is a notification system for Windows inspired by Growl on the Macintosh.

Snarl is a notification system for Windows. It provides a standard, simple way for application to notify you, the end user, of important events.

 A notification system you control...

Applications register notifications but ultimately you decide which notifications should appear - and how they appear. All of this is centralised into a single location - Snarl's preferences - so you know where to look each time, no matter which application it is. You can also assign different styles and schemes to each notification.
It just works...

It just works...

With Snarl running, any Snarl-enabled application you install will automatically register with Snarl and start displaying notifications. There's no configuration or intervention required.
Extensible...

Support for applications can also be added through a feature unique to Snarl: extensions. These are small modules which run in the same process space as Snarl and allow Snarl to detect events occuring in other applications.
Low fat...

Snarl itself uses virtually no resources on its own, and the code required to integrate Snarl support into an application is equally lightweight. There are no large installations - Snarl does not use .net - and it works fine on Windows 2000 as well as XP and Vista.
