Falling Block Game
Falling Block Game is a free, open source block stacking game available for Windows and Linux. The object of the game is to move and rotate pieces in order to fill in complete rows. The more rows you clear at once, the more points you score!

After nearly eight years, I have finally gotten around to reviving Falling Block Game development. In the short term, my plan is to completely re-write the game to use the Radius Engine and add the following features (which address shortcomings in v0.9 and all previous versions):

Customizable controls
High scores lists
Sound effects
Gameplay tweaks (e.g. "standard" timing and piece movement)
Integrated menus (instead of a separate launcher)
Fixes to support recent versions of Windows
This may sound like quite a bit of work, but most of the infrastructure is working already (as demonstrated by the recent beta release of Avoision) and I've actually re-written most of the game logic already.

Stay tuned for more news on version 2 of Falling Block Game!

After about two and a half weeks of development (using the Radius Engine), an alpha version of Falling Block Game 2 for Windows is ready for download.

Download Falling Block Game 2 v0.1 for Windows

The default controls (customizable from the "Options" menu) are:

Left, right arrow keys to move the piece
z, x to rotate
Down arrow key to drop
(The up arrow and enter keys also rotate the piece)
This is only an alpha version (it doesn't have all of the planned features yet), but here's what works:

"Survival/Endless" mode
High scores list
Updated graphics
Customizable controls
Integrated menu system
The following features are planned, but not yet available:

"Cleanup/B-Type" mode
In-game music and sound effects
Special effects/animations
In-game mouse support (allowing the game to be played using only one hand)
As always, if you run into any problems or would like to request a new feature, open a new tracker item.
