Caught! is a simple memory card game written in Java

One of the many games written with the Tjger game making system!

Quote
Caught!
A simple card game for two to five players, where you must have a good memory.
The aim is it not to get caught by the other players by remembering there trap cards.
It is based on the game Fettnapf ...in Sicht by AMIGO.

Author:   Josef Jordan
Version:   1.4
Languages:   German / English
Requirements:   Java 7

Caught!

1. Idea of the game
In the clockwise direction each player puts a move card on the discard pile and adds thereby the card value to the past values. This is made until the value is more than 30. Afterwards the card values will be subtracted until the value is less than 10. Then again add up to 30 etc. Every time a border is crossed, the player to the right from the current player gets a new trap card. With the playing of a move card each player must make certain that the reached value after the addition/subtraction does not agree with the value of a trap card of another player. If this should happen, then the player must deliver one of his chips. The game ends, if a player has no more chips or the last trap card is taken.

2 Game preparation
After mixing the move cards each player receives 3 from it. The remainder serves as a covered stack. The top card is uncovered and forms the beginning of the discard pile. Also the trap cards are mixed and dealed to the players, whereby each player receives 2 (with 4 or 5 players only one). The remainder serves again as a covered stack. The dealed trap cards are briefly openly shown, so that each player can notice which trap cards in the game. Finally each player gets 4 chips.

3 How to play in detail

3.1 Play a move card
The current player selects one of his move cards and add/subtracts the card value. Afterwards he gets a new move card of the covered stack.  Example: As beginning of the discard pile a move card with the card value 5 lies. The player plays a move card with the card value 8 which he adds to 5. This results in 13. The next player plays a 4 and adds it to 13 (results in 17), etc.

3.2 Crossing a border
If by the playing of a move card the 30 is exceeded, then the player to the right from the current player gets a new trap card, which he presents briefly, so that the other players can note again the value. Afterwards the card values will be subtracted until the value is less than 10. Again a new trap card is given to the player to the right. Afterwards add again up to 30, etc.

3.3 Deliver chip
If the player plays a move card and reaches because of that a value, which agrees with the card value of a trap card of another player, then he must deliver one of his chips. Afterwards the game continues as used in the clockwise direction.  Example: The played direction is downwards and the current value is 17. Player 1 is in turn and puts down the value 3. The new value will be 14. The player 3 is in the possession of the trap card with the value 14 and communicates this by presenting the card. Player 1 must deliver one of his chips.

3.4 End of the game
As soon as a player delivers his last chip the game ends. The player with most still remaining chips is the winner. If more player have the same amount of chips then there are several winners. The game ends also immediately, if the last trap card is taken up.  A game can consist also of several rounds.
