GSmartControl is a Hard disk drive and SSD health inspection tool

GSmart Control is a graphical user interface for smartctl (from smartmontools package), which is a tool for querying and controlling SMART (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) data on modern hard disk and solid-state drives. It allows you to inspect the drive's SMART data to determine its health, as well as run various tests on it.

GSmart Control supports ATA drives (both PATA and SATA), various USB to ATA bridges and drives behind some RAID controllers. See Smartmontools USB Device Support page for an (incomplete) list of supported USB to ATA bridges.

Features

    automatically reports and highlights any anomalies;
    allows enabling/disabling SMART;
    allows enabling/disabling Automatic Offline Data Collection - a short self-check that the drive will perform automatically every four hours with no impact on performance;
    supports configuration of global and per-drive options for smartctl;
    performs SMART self-tests;
    displays drive identity information, capabilities, attributes, device statistics, etc...;
    can read in smartctl output from a saved file, interpreting it as a read-only virtual device;
    works on most smartctl-supported operating systems;
    has extensive help information.

Binary and Distribution-specific Packages

Some distributions already include GSmartControl in their repositories. These are probably your best bet; however, I can't guarantee that they have the latest version available. Note that all the packages from the OBS project directory (instructions for installation), as well as Windows packages, are always up to date.

Linux

ALT Linux: Sisyphus.

Debian GNU/Linux: GSmartControl is available in Debian repositories. You may use apt-get install gsmartcontrol to install it. Additionally, the latest packages are available at OBS, see instructions for installation and direct package downloads.
Fedora: GSmartControl is available in Fedora repositories. Additionally, the latest packages are available at OBS, see instructions for installation and direct package downloads.
Gentoo Linux: An ebuild for Gentoo is available. You can install the package by typing emerge gsmartcontrol.
openSUSE: GSmartControl is included in openSUSE starting with openSUSE Leap 42.3. Additionally, the latest packages are available at OBS, see instructions for installation and direct package downloads.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux: The latest packages are available at OBS, see instructions for installation and direct package downloads. Note: Use CentOS packages.
Slackware Linux: slackbuilds.org
SLES (SUSE Linux Enterprise Server), SLED (SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop): The latest packages are available at OBS, see instructions for installation and direct package downloads.
Ubuntu: GSmartControl is available in Ubuntu (universe) since Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala). You may use sudo apt-get install gsmartcontrol to install it. Additionally, the latest packages are available at OBS, see instructions for installation and direct package downloads.
FreeBSD: GSmartControl is available in the ports system. Use cd /usr/ports/sysutils/gsmartcontrol/ && make install clean to install the port. Use pkg_add -r gsmartcontrol to add the package. See freshports.org for details.

macOS / Darwin: GSmartControl is available from Homebrew (Homepage), the MacPorts Project (Homepage) and the Fink Project.

Windows Vista and later (Windows 2008, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, ...):

Live CD / DVD / USB / etc...
    GParted Live includes GSmartControl since version 0.18.0-5.
    Ultimate Boot CD contains Parted Magic (the last free version) with GSmartControl in it.

Software Requirements

The following operating systems are supported (note: some systems were tested with older versions of GSmartControl):

    Linux - All the popular configurations should work.
    FreeBSD - Tested with DesktopBSD / x86.
    NetBSD - Tested with NetBSD / x86.
    OpenBSD - Tested with OpenBSD / x86-64.
    Windows (Vista or newer). The Windows port uses pd0, pd1, etc... for physical drives 0, 1, etc... .
    Mac OS X - 3rd-party testing by Homebrew and MacPorts projects.
    Solaris.
    DragonFlyBSD - Code written but no testing has been performed yet. Expected to work without any issues.
    QNX - Code written but no testing has been performed yet.
