MoviePrint lets you select, analyze, present and archive your movies as screenshots.

This Program Belongs EQUALLY in the Audio/Video Processing Software Category, AND the Graphics Creation and Editing Software Category, So it had to wind up HERE. It BOTH Processes Video, AND Creates Graphics FROM that Video: so it sits on a knife edge exactly halfway between two categories! 🤓 So Sorry.

MoviePrint is an app for Mac and Windows to create screenshots of entire movies in an instant.

• Drag in a movie
• Customize its look
• Save the MoviePrint

A MoviePrint is an image made out of screenshots of a movie. It helps you present, analyze or remember movies with the help of a single image. If you have lots of movies and try to keep an overview, or you want to get a feel of a movie, its color or pace, or you want to include some moods of movies in a presentation. In all these cases MoviePrints are helpful.

Everyone can have fun with MoviePrint, but if you are a(n)

Film maker  Animator  Editor  Art director  Colorist  Cinematographer  Artist  Film scholar  Director  Archivist  Designer  VFX Artist  Producer  Film lover

then MoviePrint can make your life even easier. Take screenshots of movies in an instant to …

    Select
    Analyze
    Present
    Archive

Here are some ideas on how to use more advanced methods to analyze a movie and create a MoviePrint.

USE SHOT DETECTION
A MoviePrint based on shot detection gives a good base to start diving into a movie.
The grid view shows one thumb for every shot.
Pro tip: a shot detected movie can be exported as EDL

TRY OUT TIMELINE VIEW
In the timeline view the length of each shot is represented by its width.

REFINE SHOT DETECTION
In the player view you can move through the movie and easily adjust the cuts by cutting and merging scenes.
The quality of the detected shots depends on the character of the movie.
Pro tip: Try out the “Histogram” shot detection method to detect shots. It is slower, but can improve detection in some cases.

CHOOSE FRAME FOR SHOT
With the Scrub feature you can easily scrub through the shot and pick a different frame.

EXPAND SHOT
Want to take a closer look at a specific shot? Just click on Expand to create an interval based MoviePrint of the shot.

INSERT THUMBS
Are you missing important frames? Just insert thumbs and hide the ones you do not need.
Unlike the constrained shot based MoviePrint, the interval based MoviePrint gives you full freedom over the grid.

DUPLICATE MOVIEPRINTS
Create variants of a MoviePrint by duplicating it as often as you like.

Known issues:

MoviePrint crashes on startup
With MoviePrint 0.2.14 and up the minimum requirements have changed. Due to the face detection using a machine learning framework called tensorflow a CPU with AVX support is required.

Solution:
Please install MoviePrint 0.2.12. This is the last version working with older CPUs.
