libdvdcss2 is a very useful software library for accessing and unscrambling CSS encrypted DVDs.
Use this to enable Handbrake to Rip many Commercial CSS protected DVDs to Regular Movie Files! A Free DVD Ripping system!Use this as a 3rd Party Library: in your Windows HandBrake folder, Vidcoder folder, or XMedia Recode folder, to be able to Rip Commercial DVDs protected with CSS!
So what is libdvdcss? Libdvdcss is a free and open source software library for accessing and unscrambling DVDs encrypted with the CSS (a kind of DVD copy protection). In other words, it is lib (library) + dvd (DVD) + css (Content Scrambling System). Generally speaking, if you want to rip CSS-protected DVDs via HandBrake or VidCoder or XMedia Recode, libdvdcss is necessary.

Download that Macintosh Installer Package, and run it, to Install the libdvdcss2 Library in the correct place. (apparently in: root/usr/local/lib/libdvdcss.2.dylib OR root/usr/lib/libdvdcss.2.dylib on older systems.)
NOW when you Launch Handbrake: it does not display the copy protection warning!!!
And you will be able to back up your DVDs protected with the CSS system!
For Windows Systems:
1. First of all, download and install HandBrake from its official site: https://handbrake.fr/
2. Download libdvdcss Windows 10 from the link above.
3. After downloading, unpack the archive and open the folder. Look inside for a file named libdvdcss-2.dll
[Attention, some said that you need to rename libdvdcss-2.dll to libdvdcss.dll. No, this extension won’t work if you do that.]
Then drag the .dll file into your HandBrake program folder, like this:
If you did not change the folder during the HandBrake installation, it should be (C:\Program Files\HandBrake).
4. Now restart HandBrake ... and you are now able to decode CSS-encrypted DVDs.
You can now use HandBrake to make backup copies of your CSS Protected DVDs!
