Evette - The FREE Veterinary and Clinic Manager

Evette is a FREE application covered by the terms of the GNU General Public Licence designed to save Animal Clinics and Vet Surgeries time, effort, paperwork and money by:

    * Storing client details
    * Storing animal records
    * Storing vet visit details
    * Managing appointments and operations
    * Tracking the movement of medication
    * Tracking animal vaccinations
    * Keeping track of clients bills, payments and invoices
    * Logging and matching lost and found animals

And much more.

It costs nothing and doesn't need any special hardware, so download it, try it and if you don't like it - you've not lost anything.

What is Evette?

Evette is an application designed to save Animal Clinics and Vet Surgeries time, effort and money by:

    * Storing client details

What is different about Evette?

There are already plenty of pieces of software that already do everything that Evette does plus more. Unfortunately they are very, very expensive. I'm sure that large veterinary practices have no problem with the charges for software and support but my background is with the RSPCA and I HATE seeing money donated by the public being spent on ANYTHING other than the animals themselves other than when it is absolutely necessary.

New laws mean more detailed records must be kept on the movement and use of medication. This means that staff at animal homes with on site vets and clinics are going to have another big chunk of their time taken up satisfying these new laws or they are going to have to spend a small fortune on software.

That's where Evette comes in. This software costs nothing to aquire and is designed to run on Linux which is also completely free (it can also run on Windows but why pay for Windows when you can have Linux for free and it is so much better). Evette does rely on other software to run, but all of the extra software that Evette needs is also available for free.

Also, through my line of work I have regular contact with lots of vets. All of the vets that I deal with through work use expensive IT systems but find getting at the information they want very frustrating. I have tried my best to make evette as easy to use as possible and am open to any feedback you may have. I hope that users may even in time find this FREE system better than it's expensive counterparts.

But is Evette up to the job?

To be honest, this is my first big IT project, and at time of writing has yet to be rigorously testing in a real working environment.I have taken advice from those in the know, primarily Robin Rawson-Tetley the creator of Animal Shelter Manager which brought RSPCA Sheffield into the 21st century and is now an integral part of animal home all over the world and is absolutely free.

The architectures that Evette is built to run on are industrial strength, very reliable and should have no problem coping with the amount of data that it is expected to receive. It also comes with a built in "Random Data" tool which allows you to create thousands and clients, animals and appointments to experiment with. So you can throw a huge amount of data at it to see how it performs and if you don't like what you see, it didn't cost you anything so you can just say "Nope" and you're no worse off.

What if Evette doesn't do everything I want?

Evette is a work in progress. I you have a sensible suggestion or request. Let me know and I will try my best to include it. As Evette evolves updated versions of the software will be available from this site.
